1. An Ode to Cyndi Lauper

Musicians come and go but some stick around and keep at their craft. Musicians like Cyndi Lauper. She had her only “hits” back in the 80’s, only to be shun from the record industry when she couldn’t produce another “radio hit” [I vomit at the term “radio hit.” Like I need some corporate big wig to tell me what’s good or not.]

Despite the neglect, she comes back time and time again with albums. Each demonstrating an exploration of music styles.

Shine (Dance Pop); At Last (Adult Contemporary); The Body Acoustic (Acoustic Rock); Bring Ya to the Brink (Electronic Dance); Memphis Blues (Blues)

Bring Ya to the Brink I was listening to on the ride home. Absolutely amazing and uplifting. It’s a great dance album if you want something to move too.

I’ve had the pleasure of catching a love show by her, as well as meeting her. She’s truly a gem. She’s also an avid suporter for LGBT rights.

AND she made a video in support of the Night of the Living Dead charity to save  chapel in Evans City Cemetery.

She is, in one word, awesome.

  3. Love Can Destroy Everything

If you were me and all you could think of
Was to die in your arms tonight
How would you tell me and how would you hurt me
When hearts are not chained at first sight
Here i go not even surprised
When love is gone like something you stole
It takes a little time of getting used to
    But love can destroy everything

I vaguely remember something you told me
When I took a shot at your heart
You said you could never die for someone
Who tore all your dreams apart
Here I go not even surprised
When love is gone like something you stole
It takes a little time of getting used to
    But love can destroy everything

It takes a little time of getting used to
    But love can destroy everything
    Yeah love can destroy everything

  5. My Favorite Albums

Sweet F.A. (or Sweet Fuck All)

    I. Love. This. CD.

I bought it on a wim, for $1 yeeeeeaaaars ago. I decided to listen to it again recently and it hit like a hot iron. SO melodic, and dark… heavy at times. A far cry from their 80’s mega hit So Alive.

There are so many catchy songs on this album. I see that a lot of die hard L&R fans didn’t like this cd, because of it’s departure from their sound. I think it’s pretty strong for what it is.

    Stand out tracks:

Judgement Day, Pearl, Sad and Beautiful World, Natacha, Sweet F.A.

  6. Milk

Another strange night. Good, but weird good. I still don’t know what the hell I should be doing. I feel like I’ve been beaten over the head with a bat, I failed, I’m not getting my chance. She’s taken a suitor, that should be it.

    But….

    *heartache*

    Where’s my chance?

I don’t know what it is about her. Maybe it’s her performance in Cracks. I love her face.

  10. But, I’m a Cheerleader

Finally saw this movie. It was in my head for a while after discussing it at work.

My verdict? SUPER CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE. I loved it!! I loved the actors, the look, the design, the humor. And most importantly, it ended great. Very reminiscent of early Tim Burton films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.

The mockery and over stylization of gender roles is hilarious.

The soundtrack is just downright amazing!!! You can’t go wrong with Dressy Bessy AND Saint Etienne.

And Clea DuVall as Graham?? O.O Pure hotness to the nth degree. If I could score someone like that at a gay camp, sign me up.

Yes, I loved this movie a lot.

Oh heavens, this is PERFECT. Amazing noir-themed 2007 photoshoot by national treasure Annie Liebovitz for Vanity Fair, and featuring a whole slew of my favorite actors. Talk about writing prompts. (I’m shipping the Angelica Huston & Sharon Stone characters).

    A few more images here.

I would read literally every one of these SSBBs.
